Suffering their first loss of the Tecmo Super Bowl Season, A.J. Green and the Bengals were looking to get back on track at Buffalo.
From the opening play, it looked like we were going to see some more of the suffocating Bengals defense as Rey Maualuga came up with a monstrous sack, leaving the Bills in a 2nd and 14 situation.
But C.J. Spiller would break free for the first of many long touchdown runs on the day, giving Buffalo an early 7-0 lead.
The Bengals would take the first punch, but they wouldn't stay down long, as BenJarvus Green-Ellis turned a screen pass into a huge gain for a first down deep in Buffalo territory.
This would set up what would be the first of many touchdown passes to A.J. Green to tie things up at 7.
Even though Michael Johnson was inactive last week against the Patriots, he was so inspired by the Bengals touchdown, he stormed out on the field and delivered a huge quarterback sack.
This would force the Bills to punt, giving the Bengals their first shot of the day at taking the lead.
The Bills would quickly come away with a sack of their own, leaving the Bengals with a 3rd and very long situation.
This would turn out to be no problem for Andy Dalton and A.J Green as the two connected for a big gain, and more importantly, the first down.
With the ball in the Buffalo red zone, Dalton quickly found Orson Charles wide open for the score, putting the Bengals on top 14-7
It would be Spiller again, however, with his second long touchdown run of the day, tying the game right back up at 14.
As the clock was winding down in the second quarter, Dalton was forced to scramble but was able to dump the ball off to Green just before he took a sack. Green would then proceed to weave in and out of the Buffalo defense, getting the Bengals right back in the red zone with 5 seconds to go in the half.
A touchdown score here would really give the Bengals some momentum as they would get the ball back in the second half. But an end zone toss to Jermaine Gresham was broken up as time expired.
At the half, the Bengals and Bills would head into the locker room all knotted up at 14.
During the halftime show, the Tecmo Super Bowl Blimp could be seen soaring through the Buffalo skies.
Picking up where they left off in the first half, Dalton quickly found Green wide open deep. The wide receiver would take the ball the rest of the way, for the score and the 21-14 lead.
Continuing their game of back and forth big scores, C.J. Spiller again broke free for his third long touchdown run of the game. The Bengals defense absolutely had no answer for him as he ran right by any oncoming defenders.
On the ensuing drive, Cincinnati found themselves in another big hole following a Nigel Bradham sack of quarterback Dalton.
But when the Bengals need to get bailed out, they turn to "The Law Firm." BJGE again made the most of a short screen play to fight his way for the first down.
This would get the Cincinnati offense to right around mid-field. And that's as close as they would need to be as Dalton hooked up again with A.J. Green who shredded up the Buffalo defense the rest of the way for the touchdown score.
So heading into the fourth quarter of play, the Bengals would have a seven-point advantage over the host Buffalo Bills.
And when it mattered most, the Bengals defense finally found an answer for C.J. Spiller and the Bills, forcing them into a quick three and out early in the fourth quarter.
Later in the fourth, Jermaine Gresham — who had been quiet all day long — came through in a big way for his team. He made two first down grabs following two third and long plays to keep the Bengal drive alive and the clock moving.
Following those two first-down plays, the Bengals were content with just running the ball to eat up some more time. But Green-Ellis found daylight and took the ball in for the score and delivered the knockout blow.
The Buffalo offense had 49 seconds left to score 14 points but couldn't muster up much as the game clock would expire.
The Bengals would come away with a nice 35-21 win on the road against a very solid Buffalo Bill squad.
A.J. Green finished the day with 237 receiving yards as he absolutely torched the Buffalo defense with only five receptions. C.J. Spiller kept his team in the game with 231 yards on the ground on only five carries. Dalton squashed any criticism from last week as he completed 78 percent of his passes for 346 yards and zero interceptions.
With the win, the Bengals move to 5-1 on the Tecmo Super Bowl season. But their lead would remain at one game as the Browns kept pace with a win over the Lions. The Bengals will get their shot at the Lions next week as they travel to Detroit for Week 7 action.
